The hotel was built of Lakeland stone
in 1899, and therefore the sixteen bedrooms vary in size and aspect, with three
at ground floor level suitable for the disabled. They are all tastefully furnished
with direct dial telephone and lots of thoughtful little extras, and all with
private bathrooms. We find guests do not seem to spend many waking hours in them,
for there is so much countryside to enjoy, and in any case there are very comfortable
public rooms with lots of magazines, books and an open fire....
