THE HOTEL is a listed building of
some architectural interest. Dating back to the 17th Century, the most famous
mutineer in history, Fletcher Christian, after seeing his crewmates slain by Tahitian
natives was said to have escaped on a ship with one Captain Folger and returned
to Cockermouth. Rumour has it that he returned to the house that is now The Allerdale
Court Hotel. NOW FAMILY OWNED and run, we pride ourselves on the warm hospitality,
good food and the constant attention to detail that are the hallmarks of The Allerdale
Court’s friendly and dedicated staff. WE HAVE 24 en-suite bedrooms (all with colour
T.V., radio, telephone and hospitality tray). Dining at The Allerdale Court is
an important part of any guest’s stay and it is not by chance that both of our
